Great Masterworks
After 15 years making a name for himself abroad, .concert pianist Henry Wong Doe undertakes a rare return to his homeland in 2024. He will perform a compelling programme of some of the great masterworks by Haydn, Chopin, Ginastero and Mussorgsky as well as a newly commissioned work by a NZ  composer.

 

Auckland born pianist Henry Wong Doe performs an exciting programme of new and celebrated works in Warkworth, his final recital of a three concert tour of New Zealand.  Currently based in New York, Henry has performed in some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Heinz Hall (Pittsburgh), the Mann Auditorium (Tel Aviv), Esplanade-Theaters on the Bay (Singapore) and the Sydney Opera House. The programme will feature Mussorgsky's great Pictures at an Exhibition alongside Redshift by New Zealand composer Gemma Peacocke. Redshift is one of six new works Henry commissioned for his latest album Perspectives (Rattle Records), which has been nominated for Best Classical Artist in the 2024 Aotearoa Music Awards.
